Training Run, Sat 1st Dec - Waterloo Park

This is a 20K run up and down the very lovely Lane Cove river, these are pretty good open trails and again here are some tempting images from the wonders of google maps.........

We are starting at 6am from the Buffalo Creek Reserve, Pittwater Rd, East Ryde which is the same as the Striders' Buffalo Creek STaR run and here is a map for the start.

We will be following the trail westwards along the river towards Epping Rd where we cross the footbridge across the river, back over the Epping Rd bridge and out along the south side of the river up to the Lane Cove national park at Delhi Rd. We will then swap river banks and follow the trails up the north side of the river through the park to the de Burghs bridge, over this and then back on the south side to Delhi Rd. From here we will again cross over the river and follow the north side bank back to Epping Rd. It's then back over the footbridge and return along the trail to Waterloo Park.

I have cobbled together a map of the first section up to Delhi Rd which may help with the navigation

Equaliser Run, Sat 24th Nov

The weather was perfect for last Saturday's run along the hilly trails of the Equaliser course, there was even the luxury of some freshly graded areas of the trail, getting rid of some of the more uneven and stony areas.

As always it's a challenging course especially with the hills towards the end. We had a reasonable turnout for any early program run of around 10 people starting  (and 10 finishing which has to be counted as a success). Plus Dave who went round for a second lap and I assume he returned!

It was great to see Sherin and Adam backing up at the Sunday StaR as well.

Six Foot Entry Dates

The entry dates for the 2013 race have been announced

6ft Entry

For novices and veterans under 5 races the entry opens at 9am on Saturday the 15th March

This is a hugely popular event and if you want to stand a chance of entry you MUST go to the on-line entry on the dot of 9am. The entries will sell out within minutes of the entry opening. From my personal experience I have got in OK if I'm there on time and if you get onto the waiting list then in past years all those have also got in (although no guarantees of course)

I will send out reminders and you should also be getting the occasional email from the 6ft site and if not you should sign up to the newsletter from the website....

Saturday 17th Nov Duffys Forest Run

This was a great run with Warwick Selby's bush running group; we had around 10 from the 6ft group and another 10 from Warwick's group. It was a lovely run along some wonderful, well maintained trails, not too hilly, great views and a spectacular view from the lookout at the turn around. Thanks to Jim for the photos below of the view over Cowan Creek.

Training Run, Saturday 24th Nov - Equaliser Course

This is one of the Striders' super series courses and follows some good but certainly hilly and sometimes rocky trails around the bush at Belrose. Although relatively short at 14 Km it can be a challenging course.

The start is at 6am this time from Wyatt Reserve, Wyatt Avenue in Belrose and is shown on the map below

The course is a loop course and although there should be many people who have run this course before it still  seems to increase the ability for those who are spacially challenged to lose their way. I have shown the course below which may help.

And of course since it's a short course on Saturday there's no excuse for not backing up at Sunday's STaR and running around the lovely beaches from Mona Vale!

Training Run on Saturday 17th November @ Duffy's Forest

This run is with Warwick Selby's bush running group; it's a 16km run starting at Echunga Rd in Duffys Forest. We will park in a small car park at the end of the road next to Northern Beaches Christian School.

We're starting at 6:30am and please allow plenty of time to get there since we don't want to hold up Warwick's group.

I've shown the start location below

Long Track Start - Echunga Rd, Duffy's Forrest

It's not a run I've done but I know the area well and there's some lovely bush through the Ku-Ring-Gai Chase national park going to a lookout over Cowan Creek between Bobbin Head and Church Point.

With the wonders of google here are a few pictures to give you a flavour of what we'll be running through....
