This is a very exciting run and our first outing this season on to the 6ft track course.
We will be starting at 7am and meeting in Katoomba on Nellies Glen Rd at the junction with the start of the six foot track. This is about 300m from the junction with the great Western Highway and is shown below...
There should be enough parking in the area with parking spots around the explorers tree but please park considerately since these are not wide roads and certainly don’t park on the Great Western Highway.
We will be following the 6ft track course down Nellies Glen to the Megalong Valley crossing and then down towards the Cox's River. The aim is for a 3 hour run so we will run out for 75 mins and then turnaround for a 105 min return. Don't underestimate the effort needed to run the uphill return - you should be pretty fresh at the point you start back.
This objective is to experience the run down Nellies Glen to the Megalong Valley and don't push yourself to get to the Cox's river since we'll be back there in early Feb for the Megalong Mega and you'll experience the full run to the river and beyond then.
Bring water; the forecast is for another warm weekend so a camelbak, extra water to maybe drop somewhere and some nutrition are really important since there is no water on the course.
If you want to get feel for the course you should read the following from the 6ft webs site, we are running down section 1 for the 75 mins and then returning back to the start. Also notice that it's all downhill until the turnaround
Here are a few pictures of Nellies and the trail beyond to get you excited for what will be a great morning.
