Saturday 12th Jan Quarry Rd

Next Saturday is our return visit to Quarry Rd; the last trip was a single lap and this time we need to aim for a minimum of two laps.

The course is a 13km there and back course which you may recall is a good wide fire trail with some long challenging hills. I've shown the course profile for two laps and you can see the intense hills that we will be going up and down each lap. It's an easy route to follow and really leaves you to focus on the hills. It is also well shaded by trees and doesn't get the full sun except on a few short sections.

As with 6ft; the hills on the course are sometimes steep when a fast walk is needed or you can really challenge yourself and run them  - remember these are training runs and you need to learn to love the hills even if this may mean that the overall time suffers - I personally think that it's important to make the extra effort and run these even though when you come across these in a race you may well walk them to conserve some energy for later on.

The start is at 6am at the end of Stewart Ave in Hornsby, please keep quiet out of respect for the locals as we starting in a residential area and here is a map for the start......

Again absolutely no water on the course but since it's a looped course it is probably easiest to leave something at the start so that you don't need to carry anything extra. But it really down to personal preference if you feel you need any water or gels for a 13km loop and may well depend on the weather on they day.

Enjoy this one - it's a classic bush runners training course and there will almost certainly be many others there with us.
